Redesign of Squarespace’s cart and checkout ecosystem to add key features, offer personalized set up based on seller profile, improve customizability, and create a flexible and contextual styling system.

Opportunity

Squarespace’s existing cart and checkout experiences are clunky for shoppers, hard for sellers to customize, and lack key functionality. These issues create friction that lowers conversion and drives high-GPV sellers off the platform.

I set out to reimagine a flexible, personalized checkout experience that reduces friction, boosts conversion, and scales with our merchants’ needs.”

Vision

Improved discoverability

Enhancing discoverability of the cart and checkout entry points by introducing an updated navigation structure.

New and personalized features

Introducing a batch of new cart and checkout features, group by selling goals and automatically pre-configured based on seller’s shop profile to maximize conversion.

Setting configuration

Settings are paired with a live preview, giving sellers clear context for each option and allowing them to see the customer experience in real time.

Contextual styling

Cart and checkout styles can be applied in context, with updates shown instantly so sellers can easily tailor the checkout experience within the available options.
